SECOND CHANCE CHAMPIONS

TRANSPLANT AUSTRALIA

While the majority of Aussies support organ donation, only 36% were registered donors. And since Covid-19, the nation’s organ donation rates had dropped to alarmingly low levels, whilst its transplant waitlist continued to grow.

With only a tiny pool of eligible donors each year, and a national consent rate of just 54%, we knew something had to change – and the key to improvement lay in more conversations. Because we found that when people did share their final wishes ahead of time, family members were much more likely to consent.

This led to the insight: Just 1 conversation with your next-of-kin could potentially save 10 lives.

But how do you inspire a nation to broach a less-than-inspiring topic? You turn a national love and talking point (i.e. Sport) into your Trojan Horse.

We also created a social page to help answer FAQs about the Games and our campaign, and to debunk harmful myths that were preventing thousands of Aussies from receiving lifesaving treatment.
